2024 Institutional Accomplishments
Celebrating the power of co-op
Northeastern has pursued innovative models since its inception. In 1898, we launched evening classes in Boston at a time when higher education for people working full time was virtually unknown. In 1909, our College of Engineering began pairing work experience with in-classroom instruction and cooperative education was born.
Now, 115 years later, co-op is our definitive experiential program. It’s the cornerstone of an educational model that empowers our graduates to meet and master the opportunities and challenges of the AI age. It’s foundational to the global university we have built. And it’s at the heart of what drives us to learn, solve problems, and make an impact.
Our global university
Since its inception in 2011, our global system of 13 campuses and a worldwide network of employer partners and alumni has accelerated opportunity and impact.
Announcing our New York City campus
In May 2024, we announced a merger with Marymount Manhattan College, a private liberal arts college on the Upper East Side of New York City. The governing boards of both institutions approved an agreement that, subject to state and federal regulatory approvals, will establish a Northeastern University campus in one of the world’s largest hubs for finance, technology, arts, and culture.
